Play The Best Soccer of Your Life Week-In, Week-Out... And Enjoy The Satisfaction of Playing To Your Full
Potential... It doesn’t matter how much skill and natural ability you have. If you can’t apply it consistently in a game situation, then you won’t even get picked in the starting eleven. And you certainly won’t fulfil any ambitions you have of playing at a higher level. Compare that to the ungainly player who trips themselves up just trying the simplest of tricks but who has the blistering speed and basic ball control to frighten any defence.
Of course, you probably already know how to address the unique needs of young players when it comes to learning skill and technique. There are guidelines and advice aplenty in the many hundreds of soccer coaching books and resources. You have to know these "coaching rules" inside out if you want to get formally qualified.
Yep, it's easier to conclude that children are naturally fit -- that it's best to leave well alone and not take any undue risks. But there's a BIG problem with these misguided beliefs... Soccer, at any age is a physical game. It involves running. It involves twisting and turning. It involves jumping and kicking and tackling. And as young players mature, the stresses and strains of the competitive environment become greater and greater.
