Commando Logistic Regiment Royal Marines

The role of the Commando Logistic Regiment(CLR), Royal Marines is to provide second line Combat Service Support to Headquarters 3 Commando Brigade and Royal Marines Commandos in peace, war and operations other than war.

It is the 3 Commando Brigade dedicated logistic unit, which provides all second line Combat Service Support to the force, supporting it with a constant re-supply chain from initial assault to the final phase of any operation. CLR is unique that it is able to provide essential supplies for front-line Commando units for the initial 30 days of any operation by the transfer of stores from ship to shore - making it totally self-sufficient.

"A formation's combat capability is defined by its ability to support itself logistically on operations. The organised control, distribution and availability of material will directly influence the Commander's ability to achieve his objective"

Regimental Organisation

Based at Chivenor in North Devon the Commando Logistic Regiment role is to ensure the re-supply of ammunition, water, fuel and food, know as "combat supplies" to the ground forces, and provide specialist services to sustain the brigade's operations. The regiment is sub-divided into different groups:

  • Logistic task Groups (LTG),
  • landing force support party (LFSP),
  • Helicopter support group (HSG),
  • Brigade support group (BSG)
  • light field dressing station (LFDS),
  • forward repair group (FRG)
  • Medical Squadron (MED SQN)

Apology
I am extremely sorry for the lapse in updating this website and for not responding to contacts over the last 6-8 weeks

This has been due to me moving home to another country and having no access to the internet with the necessary software.

As you can imagine there have been a lot of enquiries in that time which have not been dealt with. I will endeavour to work through these as soon as possible.

Sorry again and thank you for understanding,
